Karen Daniel is Chief
Financial Officer, Division President, and a member of the Board of Directors
of Black & Veatch, a global leader in providing engineering, construction and
consulting services. She joined
Black & Veatch in 1992, and was named CFO in 1999. Ms. Daniel was elected
to the Board of Directors in 2006.
In her role as CFO, she
is responsible for leading the companyÕs global financial functions including
treasury, tax, accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and business systems.
She manages relationships with key financial partners, and establishes
corporate financial policies. She also performs an active leadership role in
the following areas:

Financial
Performance – Enhance financial performance by utilizing value based
management principles, ensuring financial support for projects.
á
Serves
on teams to execute company-wide initiatives:

Corporate
Strategic Planning and Innovation Committee for last seven years; Co-Chair for
four years.

Investment
Review Board Chair – Approval and implementation of strategic investments
such as mergers and acquisitions, major business expansion, development
projects and systems.

Information
Technology Management Committee – Development, maintenance and
procurement of business systems.

Internal
Controls Task Force Chair – Implementation of internal control best
practices based on relevant provisions on Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

Execution
Strategy Committee – Develop strategies to deliver complex solutions to
clients with appropriate balance of risks and rewards.

Presents
operating results, financial projections and recommendations for critical
financial strategies to the Board of Directors. Also serves as liaison to independent Audit Committee.
á
Manages
relationships with key financial partners, such as ten bank consortium, stock
valuation firm, sureties, external auditors and financial advisors.
Ms. Daniel also is a member of the Board of Directors Snap-on
Incorporated (publicly-traded on the New York Stock Exchange as SNA) a leading
global developer, manufacturer and marketer of tool and equipment solutions for
professional tool users. 2007
revenues exceeded $2.5 billion.
Prior to joining Black & Veatch, Ms. Daniel was
Senior Audit Manager for the certified public accounting firm of KPMG Peat
Marwick. During her eleven years
at KMPG, she served the governmental, manufacturing, banking and not-for-profit
industries.
